The future stars of the Swift Current Broncos dipped their toes in the water this week.

Most of their selections from the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft participated in an orientation on Monday and Tuesday. Some of those players have carried on to main camp as well.

"It's really fun," said fifth round pick Josh Prokop. "Got to see the facility and see the town. It's really great I'm happy to be here."

For others it was reality sinking in that they have an opportunity at the WHL level.

"You feel everything," said second round pick Owen Blocker. "It's your future and something you want to look forward to. You get a good vibe."

It was also a first impression for first round pick Riley Stotts.

"I like it and my family likes it," Stotts said. "From what I hear the fans are amazing. It's special being in a small town and being the talk."

The Winnipeg product is hoping to take some tools away from his first WHL camp.

"I just want to get a good experience with all the older guys," Stotts noted. "To be able to play with their quick speed. Take some skill out of it, take some learning lessons out, go home with it and be able to improve over the year so I can come back and play."

"Anything (veterans) say you take to mind and take that with you."

The Broncos aren't looking to make any judgments from the orientation process.

"I've seen most of them play and got to meet them and their parents," said Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb. "There's no evaluation at all (in orientation) we want them to get to know each other. We want to make them feel real comfortable for when training camp starts for keeps."

There has been some talk about Stotts considering an option to play in Europe for his 15-year-old season. He isn't eligible to play in the WHL this season and made it clear the WHL is where his focus is in the future.

"Hopefully that's my goal," Stotts said. "I've just been trying to work everyday to get better and hopefully play in the WHL one day."

On-ice sessions start Thursday with scrimmages at 4pm and 6pm until Saturday night. Sunday is the Blue vs. White game at 1pm with proceeds going to charity.
