Broncos first round pick Brycen Martin at camp

The Swift Current Broncos got their first glimpse of the future this week.

Their 2011 bantam draft class hit the ice for a couple of sessions with the coaching staff.

2nd overall selection Brycen Martin liked what he saw of the rest of the 15-year-olds.

"I've played against a couple of the guys like (Cavin) Leth and (Zack) Gonek," Martin said.

"The rest of the guys seem like they're coming along great and it should be a good future for the team."

Prospect Cameron Hughes was also impressed by the talent level on the ice.

"It was very high," Hughes said.

"Everyone was very skilled and very talented... so it's pretty fun."

The Broncos had eleven players from this year's draft class skating together and participating in some team building activities. They made four picks in the first two rounds of the draft this spring, and added local product Jordan Wittman early in in the third round.

The new propsects aren't eligible to make the Broncos roster this season. They will all return to midget and would be eligible for occasional call-ups.

They now join the rest of the roster as full camp beings tonight. Click here for a full training camp schedule .
