For the second consecutive season, and only the third time in 26 years, the Swift Current Broncos will miss the playoffs.

The Broncos lost 5-2 to the Warriors in Moose Jaw last night, and Brandon beat Regina 2-1 in the shootout to officially eliminate the Broncos from playoff contention, as the Wheat Kings moved 18 points clear of the Broncos for 8th in the WHL's Eastern Conference with eight games to play.

Richard Nedomlel got the Broncos on the board early with his eighth goal of the season in the first minute of the game. After the Warriors tied it up, Coda Gordon kept a stellar freshman campaign going with his 18th of the year, but the Warriors scored four unanswered goals to put the game away.

Jon Groenhyede made 43 saves in the loss as the Broncos were outshot 48-19.

The Broncos will start to play out the rest of their schedule Wednesday, when they travel to Calgary to take on the Hitmen.

Shawn Mullin talked with Broncos Assistant Coach Darren Evjen during the post-game show on the Eagle 94.1FM.
