One of the smallest markets in the CHL continues its fight for the Ed Chynoweth Cup tonight, as the Swift Current Broncos are on the road in Everett, Washington with the WHL Championship series tied 1-1.

The Broncos haven't reached the WHL finals in 25 years, so it's been a special season for the community-owned organization.

"There's times in the small markets where you just wonder if you're ever going to be able to have this type of opportunity, and it is tough," said Schneider, a star winger on the 1993 WHL-champion Broncos team. "It's tough to win in a community-owned, or small-market team compared to the other ones, but Manny's done a phenomenal job putting this team together."

However, perhaps it's that sense of community that's led to the loudest playoff crowds in the WHL, and debatably the entire country, at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

"Support from the community has been unbelievable," said Todd Holt, another member of the '93 team, and Broncos all-time leading scorer. "The energy's electric in this city. I remember back in '93 it was the same, except for this run with this rink, and with these fans, it's like '93 times 10. It's great to be a part of, and great to be here."

The greatness has extended to the growth of the fan base during a stellar season for the Broncos.

"You can see a lot of the young crowd in the stands - the young kids, and the younger generation stepping and getting behind the team," Schneider added. "It is exciting, hopefully they can just keep this rolling into next year."

Attention still lies on the current season though. For a team who is on the road for the next three games of the WHL finals, and are 94 games deep into the WHL season, this is the time of year where all the work since a kid learning to skate pays off.

"This is the highlight of their life. They fought for many years, a lot of sweat and tears... this is what they fight for," said Holt. "As true athletes they totally understand that and I see it in their work ethic that they're not going to let this be easy for anyone."

While a Broncos fan bus treks to the Pacific North West for Games 3, 4, and 5 of the series, the fans back in Swift Current will have to wait patiently to see if a Game 6 or 7 back at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex will be necessary.

Game 3 between the Broncos and Silvertips goes tonight in Everett. Swift Current looks for their first series lead while Everett attempts to retake the lead, this time on home ice.

Puck drop is 8:05 p.m. tonight from Angel of the Winds Arena. Catch all the action live on the Eagle 94.1 for Robertson Family Group Swift Current Broncos Hockey at 7:35 p.m.
