A new team will be in the making next week as the Swift Current Broncos begin their training camp.

Dean Brockman, Coach and General Manager of the Broncos provides some insight.

"We're going to have 55 players at the camp and then we have the blue and white game on Wednesday so we're going to get down to two teams at that particular point. It's not a matter of how quick, the players will determine that."

Brockman adds there won't be a lot of cuts to be made and after the blue & white game, some of the guys will be sent back to their U18 teams.

As an organization, Brockman says they are trying to get through COVID times and trying to make it feel like and resemble what it used to be so definitely some challenges with that. He adds that want to make sure everyone is safe and in the right environment and on the ice they want to be progressive and make sure the young group is ready to go.

He reflects on what it means to have a young team this year.

"It's going to be a young group, I think we have a lot of really good young players that got some of the action last year in the hub but we will have some 16-year-olds. I think for us it's being competitive night after night and giving ourselves a chance to win and I think, it's more exciting is the fact that this year as those guys will have to learn to play hard and work hard throughout the year."

In addition, Brockman says he hopes players will come into the camp in shape as they have all been skating prior and the coaches will be throwing a lot at the players to see who can adapt and play the way they want them to.

The Broncos are still looking for billet homes for their players so anyone that can lend a space throughout camp or permanently it would be greatly appreciated and they can find out more information here
