The Swift Current Broncos started off strong, but it turned out to be a nail-biter in the end as the Broncos beat Moose Jaw 6-5 in their home opener on Friday night.

The Broncos built a 4-0 lead in the first period, and had a 6-2 lead in the third period, but the visitors from the Friendly City mounted a late comeback bringing it to 6-5 in the dying minutes.  They pressed for the tying goal, but time ran out.

Cody Eakin led the way with a three-point night, including two goals.  Michael Stickland, Eric Doyle, Geordie Wudrick, and Brad Hoban added singles.  Morgan Clark got the win in the Broncos' net, making 24 saves.  Jeff Bosch and Brandon Glover combined for 20 saves in the Warriors' net.

The Broncos head to Prince Albert for their next game on Wednesday.
