The Broncos celebrate a goal against Moose Jaw

The Swift Current Broncos are back on the ice against a familiar opponent on Friday night.

They're hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors for the first regular season contest between the two teams in 2013-14. They played three times in the pre-season with the Broncos winning two out of three.

Brycen Martin Interview"They play a full game," said Broncos defenceman Brycen Martin. "They play a full sixty minutes. They don't let up at all. We've just got to keep on them and capitalize on our chances."

That includes finding a way to score without getting on the man advantage.

"We need to score some even strength goals," Martin said. "We've been relying on our power play. Last game we got all three of our goals first unit or second unit. Definitely we've got to take advantage of some five on five opportunities."

"Gotta get the pucks to the net and go for rebounds... if we put the puck on the net it's going to be easier to put the puck in the net."

Swift Current opened this season by sweeping a home and home series with Regina. The Warriors lost both ends of their home and home with Brandon.

"They're 0-2 and we're 2-0 so they're going to be ready to play," said Broncos Coach/GM Mark Lamb. "They're going to be ready to play. That's a huge game for them."

Both teams know each other well and Lamb expects a tough match up.

"It's going to be hard," he said. "They're a good team. They've got a lot of good pieces as we do and it's going to be a good game."

You can hear Friday night's game live on The Eagle 94.1 FM with our pre-game show at 6:30pm. Puck drop is 7:05pm at the Credit Union iPlex. The Broncos are in Medicine Hat on Saturday.
