There will be another "royal visit" in Swift Current this weekend, with the Swift Current Broncos hosting the defending Memorial Cup Champion Edmonton Oil Kings tonight, and their East Division rival Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday.

All three teams have yet to lose early in the season, with the Broncos winning two games against the Moose Jaw Warriors last weekend, and the Wheat Kings sweeping a home-and-home with the Regina Pats. The Oil Kings won their only game so far against the Kootenay Ice last Saturday.

Both Brandon and Edmonton are expected to be contenders in the WHL again this season, and Broncos Coach and GM Mark Lamb says even early games like this can be a measuring stick.

"Edmonton, they're the Memorial Cup champions, so that's going to be exciting for us to play," he said. "Brandon is in our division, but they will have the most talent in the league when they get their guys back."

The Broncos and Oil Kings played four games last season, with each team winning two.

Last week, the Broncos had defenceman Brycen Martin and forward Colby Cave return from NHL camps, and defenceman Dillon Heatherington will also be returning from the Columbus Blue Jackets after he was re-assigned by the NHL club this morning. He is expected to be in the lineup in Saturday's game against Brandon. Defenceman Julius Honka remains at Dallas Stars camp as of Friday.

The team also trimmed their roster this week, re-assigning forwards Tyler Adams and Austin Calladine, and defenceman Colby Sissons.
