Cavin Leth is one of the young guns playing in tonight's game

The future stars of the Western Hockey League hit the ice tonight as Swift Current and Moose Jaw play a rookies game at the Credit Union iPlex.

Swift Current's top five picks in the 2011 bantam draft make their WHL pre-season debuts. They include second overall selection Brycen Martin, Zack Gonek, Dakota Odgers, Cavin Leth and Stewart Valley's Jordan Wittman.

Leth wants to leave a positive impression on Bronco fans.

"I'm really excited," said Leth.

"(I'm) just going to use my speed, gets lots of shots and play the body."

Odgers expects an entertaining game.

"It's going to be a fast game," said Odgers.

"We're a pretty high energy, high tempo young group."

The 1996 born players all return to midget after tonight's game. Odgers, Leth and Wittman will all play in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA league. Odgers with his father Jeff's team in Yorkton, Leth at Notre Dame and Wittman with the Swift Current Midget AAA Home Hardware Legionnaires.

Swift Current will also play sixteen year olds Dillon Heatherington, Bobby Zinkan and local product Zac Mackay tonight. Moose Jaw is bringing in their top three picks from the 2011 bantam draft and top NHL prospect Morgan Rielly.

Game time is 7pm.
