The Swift Current Broncos will face a WHL powerhouse as they host the Portland Winterhawks tonight for their only matchup of the season, and the only time the Winterhawks will play at the Credit Union iplex over a two-year span.

The Winterhawks are the four-time defending Western Conference champions, but got off to a slow start this season. However, they are 2-and-1 on their current East Division road swing, which included a 3-1 win over Regina Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the Broncos are on a three-game losing skid, and are coming off a 4-3 loss to Moose Jaw on Saturday where the winning goal was scored with four seconds remaining in regulation.

Broncos Assistant Coach Jamie Heward says to beat a team with Portland's skill they have to follow their game plan with consistency.

"Making sure you are going over their systems, and make sure they are flawless, and try to make sure the guys understand that the little mistakes can turn into big mistakes," Heward said. "We just have to find a way to be more consistent, and whoever's coming in here, whether it's Portland, or Regina or Brandon or whoever it is, we have to prepare to be the best that our team can be."
