Broncos Hitmen Johnson

A milestone for Swift Current Broncos forward Andrew Johnson.

In the midst of their US Division road swing, Johnson played the 200th game of this WHL career.

He fondly recalled his first game when he was a member of the Moose Jaw Warriors.

"It was in the old crushed can building in Moose Jaw it was actually against the Broncos too," Johnson said. "I didn't play too much that game but I remember the nerves, the mixed emotions I had come into the game... it was pretty cool."

Johnson has since played for Seattle and Swift Current. He has 79 points in his WHL career so far in the middle of his 19-year-old season.

"That was a long time ago," he said. "I've really matured as a person, matured on and off the ice. As a player I've just figured out the league a little more, figured out the tendencies, figured out my boundaries for what I can and can't do out there."

The Broncos are winless on their road trip and wrap it up against the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday night.

"In this league what I've figured out is that it's just who wants it more every night," Johnson said. "We've been focusing on playing with a hard mentality and if we do that we're going to find success."

You can hear the game on The Eagle 94.1 starting with our pre-game show at 7:30pm. The Broncos are back home to host Edmonton on Saturday.
