The Swift Current Broncos wrapped up a three game road swing in Alberta with their third loss in a row, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Edmonton Oil Kings at Rexall Place Tuesday night.

The defending WHL champs jumped out to a 2-0 lead on two goals by Stephane Legault, while goalie Laurent Broissoit was solid in the Oil Kings' net, making 26 saves. Zac Mackay scored the only goal for the Broncos in the third period, while Eetu Larikainen countered with 42 stops.

Broncos Assistant Coach Darren Evjen says they tried to make up for a slow start and early penalty trouble with a strong third period.

"We had some great scoring chances but the puck didn't go in, we didn't really give a whole bunch up," he said. "We played really sound defensively, and pulled the goalie and again, we get a couple chances to tie the game up to get a point and go from there, but the puck doesn't get to the back of the net."

All three losses in Alberta were by one goal, and Evjen says they need to capitalize on the opportunities they are getting.

"We probably had four decent opportunities for a shot to score, or a shot for a good rebound, and we miss the net," he added. "Those are the ones where we got to hit the net, that's something that's concrete. You need to get the pucks on net and if that doesn't go in, at least you get the second chance to maybe get it in."

The Broncos have a week off and return to action Tuesday at home against Brandon.
