The Swift Current Broncos could only manage a single point against the Wheat Kings, in a 3-2 shootout loss last night in Brandon.

Brad Hoban had both Broncos goals, including the game-tying marker with just more than a minute left in regulation. Hoban and Graham Black were stopped by Wheat Kings goalie Corbin Boes in the shootout, while Mark Stone and Eric Roy scored for the Wheaties to pick up the extra point.

Broncos goalie Jon Groenhyede made 38 saves in the loss, while Boes made 35 stops as the Wheat Kings outshot the Broncos 41-37.

The shootout loss leaves the Broncos 16 points behind Brandon for 8th in the Eastern Conference with nine games left. They head to Moose Jaw tonight to take on the Warriors, and you can hear the game on the Eagle 94.1 starting at 6:30pm.

Shawn Mullin talked with Broncos Assistant Coach Darren Evjen during the post-game show on the Eagle 94.1.
