The Swift Current Broncos will have their last scrimmages of training camp Saturday before Sunday's Black and White Intrasquad game.

While the older players look to secure spots on this season's team, some of the younger players are here to make an impression for the future. List player Landon McKenzie is at training camp for a second time, and says having that experience under his belt already has made him a better player.

"Like, speed and strength and stuff... another year adds on more maturity," McKenzie said Monday, adding that he is hoping to make the Black-White game again this year.

"I want to play aggressive, but make smart decisions," he added. "Don't get too up in the play and not worry about the defensive end first... You just have to go out there and play your best and give it your all, but you have to play smart when you're out there."

Another list player, Tyler Adams, has been at camp since Monday's orientation as well and introduced himself as an all-around player.

"I can play defence and create offense for the team," he said. "I make time and space, and I'm a good hitter too. I can throw my weight around if it's needed and take hits for the team to make plays."

Adams says he would like to see if he can make the Intrasquad game and play in pre-season, but would also like to use the camp to improve on some areas.

"I think I got to get bigger still, and be more aware of my surroundings on the ice, and work on better skating and more speed," he added.

Scrimmages are at 4:00pm and 6:00pm Saturday, and the Black-White game is Sunday at 1:00pm. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and free for children 12 and under, and proceeds will go to Swift Current's new Emergency Youth Shelter.

The pre-season starts Tuesday in Moose Jaw.
