Maple Creek native Zack Smith has been voted this year's Captain of the Swift Current Broncos, by his teammates and coaching staff.
Smith, a consensus pick amongst the team, will take over as Team Captain for the departed Myles Rumsey. Smith was an Assistant Captain last season, as an 18-year-old.
Broncos Head Coach and General Manager, Dean Chynoweth thinks it's the right decision. "He's a guy that is extremely motivated, and a guy who has always put the team first, so I think it's a wise choice."
Smith will be complimented by a veteran group of Assistants. R.J. Larochelle and Dale Wiese will be full-time Assistants, while Eric Doyle and Paul Postma will rotate the "A".
The Broncos open up the season tomorrow night in Moose Jaw.
