The Swift Current Broncos have lately turned their biggest weakness into their strength.

A team that has lost 18 one-goal games this season is finding a way to overcome adversity and win the close games lately.

It happened again today as Tyler Steenbergen scored in overtime to lift the Broncos over Prince Albert 3-2.

"It is nice to see the results sway our way in these types of games," said Broncos associate coach Ryan Smith. "Guys have fought through that and maybe learned from that. That's good to see. We've broke through and won these close games. Even when things aren't going our way we're defending well. Things are trending in the right direction."

It was the second straight overtime win on the weekend for the Broncos who beat Prince George 4-3 on Friday.

Taz Burman was strong in both games stopping 30 pucks today including several high quality shots.

"The way he played tonight he may have saved the game for us at times," Smith noted. "It's nice to see him carry a win after a win after a win. He's been very good since he got here. He's really taken control of the crease. Travis (Child) is working hard he'll be ready when he's called upon, but the guy who played tonight was unbelievable. He was one of the best in white."

Jon Martin and Tyler Adams also scored for the Broncos as they've now won five of their last six games.

"We got healthy again so we got all our players back," Adams said. "I think just always being relentless on the puck and playing a hard mentality and lots of gamesmanship. Looking the other team in the eye and not letting them push us around, getting hard on them and getting pucks to the net."

The Broncos were down 1-0 after the first period on Reid Gardiner's 31rst of the season. They weren't with a start that Smith described as "dozy." After taking over the game in the second period and taking a 2-1 lead, they let the Raiders get back into it in the third period.

"We started to get a little careless with the puck," Smith said. "We tried to make something out of nothing in the neutral zone. We were up and we needed to manage the game a little better."

Prince Albert tied the game on a Kolton Olynyk goal and had a couple of opportunities to pull ahead when Burman stood tall. They also had a late power play and Swift Current held them to 0 for 3 on the man advantage.

"Our guys adapted," Smith said. "You're always going to give up some kind of look for the other team, but if you give them the look they don't want that's always an advantage. We cleared the net well and let Taz see the puck."

Swift Current is now a point behind 10th place Saskatoon, five points back of 9th place Medicine Hat and ten points back of 8th place Edmonton with games in hand on all teams. Swift Current is in Medicine Hat on Tuesday night. Their next four games are all on the road.
