With two import players set to return this season, the Swift Current Broncos have chose to pass on the 2017 CHL Import Draft.

The Broncos will not be using either one of their two picks, and instead will leave the two spots open for Aleksi Heponiemi and Atryom Minulin.

Heponmiemi was just drafted 40th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday, after a strong first season in Swift Current that saw him win the WHL Rookie of the Year Award.

Playing all 72 regular season games in 2016-17, the Finnish forward put up 28 goals and 58 assists.

Minulin meanwhile, although passed on in the NHL draft on Saturday, climbed many draft rankings throughout the past season.

The Russian defenceman recorded 8 goals and 42 assists in 70 regular season games in 2016-17.

Russian Winger Andrei Svechnikov was taken first by the Barrie Colts in the 2017 CHL Import Draft, while Gilian Kohler, a Swiss winger was the first selection by a WHL team, being taken by the Kootenay Ice third overall.
