The Swift Current Broncos had no shortage of offense Tuesday night at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex, as five different goal-scorers aided in a 6-4 win over the visiting Red Deer Rebels.

Swift leapt out to an early 2-0, as Justin Svenson scored his first as a Bronco, and Brecon Wood chipped one home in the first 5:28 of the game.

Red Deer tied it up with a pair of goals 23 seconds apart in the final five minutes of the frame to make it a 2-2 game heading into the first intermission.

Cohner Saleski scored his first as a Bronco, coming against his former team - the second period's lone goal - as Swift Current nosed ahead 3-2 after 40 minutes of play.

Overage forward Jaxan Kaluski extended the lead to two goals on a short-handed breakaway 3:16 into the third, before Eric Houk buried his first of the season a shade under three minutes later.

That commanding 5-2 lead held for nearly five-and-a-half minutes, until the Rebels trimmed their deficit back to two goals 11:26 in.

It stayed that way until the final minute-and-a-half of play, when Red Deer cleared their crease for the extra attacker, and Wood polished off a two-goal game, scoring an empty-netter for the Broncos.

The Rebels scored the game's final goal with just nine seconds remaining, but it was too little, too late.

Isaac Poulter weathered a storm of Rebels shots in net for the Broncos, stopping 54 of 58 pucks.

The Broncos (6-13-1-2) creep within two points of the Rebels (7-14-0-3) in the Central Division standings in the win, and have two games in hand on their Albertan opponent.

Swift Current is averaging 55 shots against to just 21.3 shots for over the past three games, and will be in tough against the top team in the WHL if that differential doesn't diminish.

The Broncos take on the league-leading Prince Albert Raiders (16-5-3-1) in a home-and-home this week. Game 1 is at Art Hauser Centre on Friday, with the finale set for Saturday back at the iPlex.
