With their final selection of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft, the Swift Current Broncos went out west.

The Broncos rounded out their 2017 draft class with Okanagan Bantam Prep. forward Wyatt Marlow.

"I was at my grandmother's place in Penticton with my parents watching (the draft) online," he said. "It was really exciting for all of us."

The Cranbrook, BC native finished the 2016-17 regular season with 8 goals and 12 assists over 27 games.

For Marlow, being selected in the WHL Bantam Draft was exciting, but being picked by Swift Current was even more special.

"I had followed the Broncos a little bit," he said.

"Michael Stickland was a decently close friend of mine and he had been traded from the Kootenay Ice to Swift Current, so that is where I started to follow Swift Current and become a fan."

Stickland played 92 regular season and 11 playoff games with Swift Current after the Broncos acquired the forward on January 15, 2009.

The 5'7", 150lb forward says going to a franchise he is already familiar with is a nice bonus.

"It was really exciting," he said.

"It was also a relief to know I was drafted to such a good organization."

During his 2015-16 season, Marlow played 22 regular season games with the Pursuit of Excellence Bantam Varsity team, tallying 12 goals and 10 assists.

For the 15-year old forward though, he prides his game on hustle and hard work.

"I feel I bring physicality, hard work and good leadership to the team," he said. "I think I am a tough player to play against.

"I like battle along the boards and in the middle. I also think I bring a bit of skill."

Although pleased with his game, Marlow says he won't ever be satisfied.

"As a player you can never be to good at anything so I would like to work on all parts of my game," he said.

"Two big ones though are my physical strength and my speed."

Marlow plans to try and build up his strength and speed ahead of prospects camp.

Happy to be a part of a WHL organization and selected by the Broncos, he shared that he tried to keep himself from getting to consumed with each selection as teams made their picks

"I didn't get to wrapped up in the draft," Marlow said.

"We had a decent idea of the interest Swift Current had and kind-of just went on from there."
