(Norwegian Goaltender Steffen Søberg is the newest Swift Current Bronco)

The Swift Current Broncos addressed their goaltending by selecting Steffen Søberg with the sixth overall pick in this morning's Canadian Hockey League Import Draft.

Søberg played for Norway at both the U18 and U20 tournaments this year. He posted an impressive 0.931 save percentage and was named player of the game four times at the U18 event.

The Washington Capitals made him their first selection of the 2011 NHL Draft. They picked him in the 4th round, 117th overall.

Søberg is listed at 5'11 and 176lbs.

The Oslo native describes himself as a smaller goaltender who makes saves using his quick reflexes.

Broncos Coach and GM Mark Lamb says the Norwegian is exactly what they were looking for. He made it clear after the season that he was hoping to land a top goaltender out of Europe. Lamb adds Søberg will be 18 by September and should be ready to become a successful starter for them.

Søberg is planning to join the Broncos. He says the Capitals wanted him to play in North American so they could spend time working with him. The NHL club is going to send their goaltending coach for regular visits with Søberg.

Søberg will be attending Washington's development camp in July.
