The Swift Current Broncos have started to address a log jam of 19-year-olds by sending veteran Tyler Adams to Seattle for 17-year-old prospect MacKenzie Wight.

Adams was one of ten 19-year-olds on the roster for Swift Current.

The deal also includes a conditional draft pick the Broncos could owe Seattle in 2019.

Adams was in his second season with the Broncos and had 20 points in 97 WHL games.

"An opportunity for Tyler to go to a team where he has an opportunity to play more minutes," said Broncos Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Manny Viveiros. "We're very happy with everything he's done over the last year and a half, but there was an opportunity that with our roster moving forward where we felt we needed to get a little bit younger and we were fortunate enough to make a deal where we were going to get a signed prospect in return."

The 6'2 Regina product played in several different spots in the lineup for the Broncos throughout the season.

Wight is a signed WHL prospect who went point less in 6 WHL games this season for Seattle.

"He's a young prospect," Viveiros said. "He didn't make their roster this year, but he's a young player and there's a potential for him with our group in the future. Not this year but later on for next year we can have a long look at him in training camp."

He has 9 points in 12 BCHL games with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs and is expected to stay in Junior A for the time being.

Wight was Seattle's 7th round draft in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. He was 12th in the BC Major Midget League and led the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds with 42 points in 36 games last season.

The 5'11, 165lbs Burnaby product is listed as a right winger.

Swift Current still has 24 players on their roster. They don't anticipate needing to cut down any further.

"We're at a number where we're comfortable," Viveiros said. "But we want our kids to play too. Having said that though in this league the amount of games that we play and the stress on these kids bodies injuries do happen. If we're able to carry a full roster it's going to help us out later on."

The Broncos host Prince Albert on Friday and visit the Raiders on Saturday to wrap up before the holiday break.
