A statement by the Swift Current Broncos.

Five different goal scorers struck as the Broncos beat the Eastern Conference leading Brandon Wheat Kings in decisive fashion 5-0 on Wednesday night.

"Complete effort," said Broncos associate coach Josh Dixon. "Our best game of the year."

"When you look at all aspects of the game. In special teams with the game really tight in the second period having to kill a 5 on 3 we really took momentum from our penalty kill... and being able to capitalize 5 on 5."

Landon Bow made 25 saves for his league leading fifth shutout of the season already. Through 23 starts he's on pace to break the Swift Current and WHL single season shutout records.

"For Landon I think it all stems back to summer," Dixon said. "He had the most productive off season of his career. He put in more work in the gym, he did a better job watching what he ate, he really came prepared to start the season."

"Success doesn't happen by accident. It's certainly a product of his habits, his change of philosophy."

"It was a measuring stick no doubt about it," Dixon noted. "We haven't been able to put a complete effort together against the top teams in this league so for us this really is a big measuring stick. Our play moving forward will really answer the question of what this does for our group."

"This has to be where our bar is moving forward."

Coda Gordon extended his point streak to fifteen games with a goal and an assist.

Cavin Leth, Ayrton Nikkel, Glenn Gawdin and Colby Cave also scored.

Nikkel, a former Wheat King, set Leth's opening goal up and scored his first of the season in the second period to help the Broncos pull away. He was +3 on the night.

"I'm just happy with the two points the team got to make up some ground on them," Nikkel said. "For the most part we played the whole sixty minutes."

"I felt pretty good... we were just keeping it simple. When (defensive partner Jordan Harris) and I are at our best we're keeping it simple... keeping it out of the middle of the ice and shutting things down."

The Broncos outshot Brandon 33-25 in a game they controlled from start to finish. They held the Wheat Kings to 0 for 5 on the power play including a second period 5 on 3.

Swift Current visits Prince Albert on Friday night looking for revenge after a 3-2 shootout loss to the Raiders on Saturday.
