Adam Lowry scored in overtime as the Swift Current Broncos extended their winning streak to seven games with a 5-4 victory over Regina Friday night.

Down 4-3 late, Colby Cave banged home a rebound from a Brycen Martin shot to send the game to overtime. It was the fifth straight time the Broncos have won a one-goal game after only winning five of their first twenty this season.

Highlights of Friday's broadcast"I think just experience from being in them," said Ryon Moser, who had a goal and an assist for the Broncos. "The confidence... we've won a few of them now we know how. We know how to stick to our system and do what makes us successful."

Martin scored his first career WHL goal and added two helpers.

"Definitely with more pressure you learn to trust yourself more out there and just play the game," Martin said. "I think that has helped me out a bunch so far."

Cave also had a three point night. Eetu Laurikainen made 20 saves to earn the win for the Broncos.

Interviews with Darren Evjen, Brycen Martin and Ryon Moser"I don't think it was our best game but we found a way there in the third," added Moser. "They came out really hard and got two quick ones on us but the battle of our team we got that one late and in overtimes to close it out just shows the character of our team."

Moser opened the scoring for the Broncos as he banged in the rebound of a Cave rush. Regina answered back at the end of a physical first period with a Morgan Klimchuk power play goal. The period featured two fights and a massive scrum erupting behind the Swift Current net. The Pats ended up 1 for 9 on the power play, while Swift Current went 2 for 5.

"You can get really high and really low when there's lots of penalties like that," said Broncos Assistant Coach Darren Evjen. "The guys just stuck with it and did a good job killing. The power play wasn't working and then we found a way to win it on special teams."

The Pats took their first lead of the game in the second period when Braden Cristoffer stole a puck in Swift Current territory and ripped it by Laurikainen. Martin's first career goal tied it up on a power play just over two minutes later as he snuck in from the point and Graham Black found him from behind the Regina goal.

Late in the second after another penalty kill the Broncos took the lead when Cave led a 3 on 1 and fed a great pass to Chance Lund for his 11th goal of the season.

Regina turned the momentum around with two strange goals in four seconds in the third period. Chandler Stephenson banked a centering pass off of Laurikainen's pads and second later a Dyson Stevenson shot deflected off of Jay Merkley and was knocked out of mid-air by Trent Ouellette to give the Pats a 4-3 lead.

Cave's goal came with 1:04 left in the third period to force overtime. The 18-year-old had 16 points in 13 games since being promoted to the top line.

Lowry's goal came after the Broncos went to the power play late in overtime. Reece Scarlett got Merkley the puck at the side of the goal and he drew the Regina defenders to him before setting up Swift Current's Captain for his 32nd of the year.

Swift Current was missing Coda Gordon due to a two-game suspension for a hit from behind on Regina defenceman Luke Fenske last weekend. He will also miss Saturday's game against Moose Jaw. The Warriors snapped their ten game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Kootenay on Friday.

We'll have the game on The New Pioneer Co-op Home Centre Broncos Hockey on The Eagle 94.1 FM at 6:30pm.
