Stuart Skinner made 39 saves as the Swift Current Broncos beat Regina 4-1 to take a 2-1 lead in their first round WHL playoff series.

Skinner has now stopped 101 of the 104 shots he has faced in the series.

Glenn Gawdin led the way offensively with two goals and an assist, while Tyler Steenbergen added three helpers and Giorgio Estephan had two.

"It was a good team effort," said Broncos Associate Coach Ryan Smith. "A lot of gutsy play by us. They threw everything they had they played a good game too. It felt like a real playoff game. We will have to repeat that performance two more times if we want to win that series."

Colby Sissons and Tanner Nagel also scored for Swift Current in the win.

Emil Oksanen scored the lone goal for the Pats in a losing cause.

Just as they did in Game 1, the Broncos got out to a first period lead and as the game went on were able to protect the front of their net effectively from the Regina attack.

The Pats outshot Swift Current 40-24 but were not able to solve Skinner until midway through the third period.

Swift Current will have the opportunity to take a 3-1 series lead back home if they can win again Wednesday in Regina.
