The Swift Current Broncos kept it exciting to close the 2019 preseason.

In a home-and-home with the Lethbridge Hurricanes Friday and Saturday, the Broncos exercised one-goal margins of victory both nights.

Friday brought a 4-3 OT win in southern Alberta.

Carter Chorney, Zach Cox, Tyler Smithies, and Ethan O'Rourke found the back of the net - O'Rourke's proved to be the game-winner, coming 2:07 into the extra frame.

Alex Moar chipped in with three assists on the night, while rookie netminder Jordan Fairlie stopped 38 of 41 shots in the win.

Then on Saturday at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex, it was a low-scoring 2-1 victory for the Broncos.

Chorney and Joona Kiviniemi buried pucks in the first period for Swift Current, who hung on for the slim win.

Starter Isaac Poulter got in a rhythm that was barely disrupted in the game. He steered 37 of 38 shots clear of the net.

It was also a special moment for a pair of Swift Current-born prospects Saturday night.

Broncos defenceman Hendrik de Klerk and Hurricanes defenceman Joe Arntsen both made their first WHL appearance in their home town.

de Klerk was held out of the lineup in the Broncos' lone other home game of the preseason.

The pair of potentially former Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaires will be fighting for roster spots with their respective WHL clubs for the 2019-20 season.

The Broncos, who polished off the preseason with a record of 5-0-0-1, are set to open the regular season September 21 at home against the Calgary Hitmen.
