A new partnership was announced this morning at the Credit Union iPlex.

"I'm very happy to report that on behalf of Swift Current Minor Hockey and the Swift Current Broncos that we will be working together going forward," said SCMH President, Wade Lacher.

"We will be meeting periodically to discuss many items that will help us all work together in hockey. We both agree that this is a positive situation for both sides. We are going to keep the lines of communication open for the future and this should hopefully benefit both organizations for years to come."

Along with Chairmen of the Board of the Swift Current Broncos, Liam Choo-Foo, Lacher made the announcement, which will see all Swift Current 'AA' minor hockey teams re-branded to the Broncos and wear the traditional blue and green Swift Current Broncos' jerseys.

When sharing his thoughts about the new agreement, Choo-Foo says it's important to have minor hockey players feel apart of the Broncos' aura.

"Right from a very early age, kids identify with being a Swift Current Bronco and wanting to be a Swift Current Broncos so it is very natural that we have always had a relationship with Swift Current Minor Hockey but we want to advance that relationship to make it stronger and make it tighter and we have now formalized that with our agreement, moving forward," he said.

Choo-Foo also pointed out, the partnership has a chance to further establish a sense of pride within the brand.

"Now they can see when they are 9-years old, they can wear the Broncos' jersey," he said.

'As they start to grow up in the kind of an atmosphere I think it will begin to permeate in a lot of ways we can't even anticipate right now. I think we want to create this greater aura of I'm Branded Blue, I'm a Swift Current Bronco, I bleed blue, and that is who I am for this city. That is what we are hoping to try and achieve."

19-year old Broncos' Center and St. Louis Blues' draft pick, Glenn Gawdin, echoed Choo-Foo's thoughts.

"I remember when I was that age, looking up to the older guys in junior hockey and that is somewhere you wanted to be," he said.

"I think for them it is going to be a good transition throughout their minor hockey career and going forward to junior, imaging themselves playing as a Bronco, wearing this jersey."

The name change will effect the the Midget Hurricanes, Bantam Raiders, as well as the Female Midget Titans, who will now all be known as the Broncos.

The Atom and Pee Wee Broncos are also a part of the agreement, and they will also receive new jerseys.
