Two teams in similar situations face-off tonight at the Credit Union iPlex in Swift Current.

The Broncos and Medicine Hat Tigers are both scrambling to get back in playoff contention before time runs out on the 2015-16 WHL season.

Medicine Hat is a point behind the Broncos and Saskatoon Blades for 9th place in the Eastern Conference. Swift Current is nine points back of Edmonton for the 8th and final playoff spot.

"Medicine Hat is a pesky team," said Broncos associate coach Ryan Smith. "They've been up and down like us. We're in a battle to find our way back in the playoffs and they're pretty much in the same spot."

The Broncos want to dictate the pace especially on their home ice.

"I would expect two desperate teams," Smith said. "I think we need to play our game and make them play catch up with us and not sit back and wait for them to dictate the play."

Swift Current has won both games against the Tigers so far this season.

After going on a great run from mid-January to mid-February, the Broncos have stumbled a bit lately with only 2 wins in their last 8 games.

Swift Current is coming off a hard fought 3-2 overtime loss to Prince Albert on Wednesday.

You can hear tonight's game on The Eagle 94.1 FM at 6:30pm. Puck drop is just after 7pm at the Credit Union iPlex and the Broncos are taking donations for the local SPCA tonight.

Swift Current hosts Calgary tomorrow.
