The Swift Current Broncos came away from their 2017-18 WHL Championship campaign with a net profit of $561,000 - the second largest mark in the franchise history.

The 1992-93 team, which had been the most-recent team to win the league title, had a profit of $567,000.

At Tuesday night's AGM, Chairman of the Board Trent McCleary - who was with the Broncos during the 1992-93 season - said the on-ice performance last season was huge for the bottom line.

"It was a fabulous year for the Broncos in 2017-18. The success on the ice definitely rolled over into success in the business operations."

A new record for season tickets was hit, with a mark of 2,406.

The Broncos are reporting their average attendance last season as 2,550.

"We were sold out for 11 regular-season games, all 13 playoff games, we're starting a year with a record number of season tickets - I believe just over 2,150 season tickets for this year," McCleary said. "The business operations with the franchise has done a very good job maximizing the on-ice product into off-ice success as well."

McCleary said with Dean Brockman taking Manny Viveiros' role of what's now called head coach/general manager, Nathan MacDonald taking over Dianne Sletten's role as director of business operations, and Gary Aubin taking over Jamie Porter's role as director of player personnel, there's a lot of turnover. But he added that the organization can use last season's success as a template going forward.

"We're a development program - so we develop both on and off the ice, and in business operations. So when we have success, other opportunities open up for our staff and our team, and we have to roll with those punches and we're ready and looking forward to the challenges ahead of us."
