The Swift Current Broncos have been anything but road warriors so far this season.

After winning their season opener in Regina, they've lost seven straight games away from the Credit Union iPlex. That record is in stark contrast to their 6-1-0-1 record on home ice.

"I'm not sure," said Associate Coach Darren Evjen. "We've had some good games where we played well and came up short."

"Sometimes it's your mindset. The match-ups go in favour of the home team. It's always tougher to play on the road."

The players believe they have to keep things simple and try to mimic the kind of game they had in a 3-1 home win over the Oil Kings on Saturday.

"We've just got to play the same we we did (against Edmonton)," said forward Connor Sanvido. "We've got to not take any teams lightly on the road and we've got to prepare the same way on the road as we do at home. We've just got to come out strong and take away the energy from their home crowd and I think we'll be fine."

Swift Current is in Lethbridge on Tuesday for their first visit against the last place Hurricanes. That doesn't mean they can count on a struggling Lethbridge squad to help improve their road record.

"They've made some changes and I think they're playing better because of it," Evjen said. "They're like we were... we (lost five in a row) and you get desperate and you play hard. It's never easy. You're not going to go in there and because they're in last place just walk through it."

"You're going to have to put the work in to get the two points out of there and we fully expect that. They do have talent."

There will be a couple of familiar faces on the Hurricanes as former Bronco Josh Derko is their captain. Swift Current dealt him to Lethbridge in exchange for forward Jay Merkley last season.

Lethbridge also recently added 17 year old forward Carter Folk, 19 year old forward Riley Sheen and a third round pick in 2015 from Seattle in a trade for veteran forwards Jaimen Yakubowski and Sam McKechnie. Sheen scored against the Broncos recently when Seattle beat Swift Current 6-3.

You can hear all the action live from Lethbridge on The Eagle 94.1 FM starting with our pre-game show at 6:30pm.

Swift Current will then play a home and home with the Blades starting Friday in Saskatoon and ending Saturday in Swift Current.
