Erik Fleming while a member of the Seattle Thunderbirds

The Swift Current Broncos welcomed two new faces to their roster last week.

They added defenceman Erik Fleming from Seattle for a future draft pick and forward Adam Smith from Portland for veteran Dillon Wagner.

Fleming feels he can bring some experience to the club.

"I think I'm a smart player, kind of a two-way defencemen," Fleming said. "I think I make good passes and read the play well."

He didn't expect to move from Seattle.

"I was a little surprised I didn't really see it coming," Fleming said. "I'm looking to make the best of it and get out there soon.

Fleming's transition might be easier as he has been working out in summers with Adam Lowry, played midget with Jordan Evans and knows a few of the other Alberta-born players. He has 156 games of WHL experience while Smith is a rookie.

"I think of myself as a power forward," Smith said. "I bring a lot of grit and stick up for my teammates when it's needed."

"I was really excited about the opportunity (in Swift Current)"

Neither guy is expected to play Tuesday night as the Broncos host Mark Stone and the Brandon Wheat Kings. Walk up tickets are two dollars and game time is 7:05pm. Our broadcast starts at 6:30 on The Eagle 94.1 FM.
