The Swift Current Broncos and Regina Pats battle again Friday night in Regina.

Swift Current is six points back of the Pats for top spot in the WHL East Division after a 6-2 win over Regina on Wednesday.

"Getting off to a big start is a key to our game," Burns said. "Get pucks behind them and take advantage of their defencemen."

"Just play the body. If you get physical with a team it will frustrate them and give us space to make our plays."

The Broncos ave 5-0 against Regina so far this season, but the Pats are one of the hottest teams in the WHL as of late and could put the division almost out of reach with a win over Swift Current.

"You spend a lot of time on the WHL website checking the standings," Burns said. "Probably more than once a day even though they won't change you just always want to stay on top of that stuff and know exactly where you are."

Burns played his 300th WHL game on Wednesday and had two assists in the win. A lot has changed for him over a career in Vancouver, Saskatoon and Swift Current.

"It makes you more and more mature," he noted. "You get to grow up faster living away from home and you learn lots of new things. It's an experience that everyone should get to enjoy."

Burns has 183 points in 300 career games. He has 22 points in 19 games in Swift Current so far and is a career +1.

You can hear Friday's game on The Eagle 94.1 with Pioneer Co-op Home Centre Broncos Hockey at 6:30pm. The Broncos then host Lethbridge on Saturday and Brandon on Sunday.
