Team Canada wrapped up an undefeated round-robin at the World Junior Hockey Championships with 3-2 win over the USA in a New Year's Eve showdown at Rexall Place in Edmonton.

WHL leading scorer Mark Stone lit the lamp again with his seventh goal of the tournament, and also set up Canada captain and Wilcox product Jaden Schwartz later in the first period. Brett Connolly scored what would be the game-winner later in the first, and the US scored two unanswered goals in the third, but Canada held off the rally for the win.

The game meant nothing in the standings as Canada had already wrapped up first in their pool and a bye to Tuesday's semi-final, while the US will fight to avoid relegation.

Canada will play the winner of Monday's quarterfinal between the Czech Republic and Russia.
