Canada extended it's medal winning streak to fourteen years at the World Junior Hockey Championship with a 4-0 win over Finland Thursday afternoon.

The Canadians came into the match-up three players short due to injuries and suspensions.

Quinton Howden scored two goals while Tanner Pearson and Mark Scheifele added singles. Goaltender Mark Visentin stopped 27 shots for the shutout which included a second-period penalty shot and  a no-look, behind-the-back save to start the third frame.

Finland's Sami Aittokallio stopped 40 shots in the loss after stopping 55 in a 3-2 semi-final loss to Sweden.

The 2013 world junior hockey championship will be held in Ufa, Russia, followed by Sweden in 2014. The tournament will return to Canada for 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021.

Later, in the gold medal game, the Russians would get a sensational 57 save performance from Saskatoon Blades goaltender Andrei Makarov but it wouldn't be enough as Sweden would score 10:09 into overtime to win 1-0.

Mika Zibanejad got the marker for the Swedes who won their first World Junior Hockey Championship since 1981.
