Canada suffered their first loss in a thriller in Draw 13 this afternoon at the Ford World Women's Curling Championships in Swift Current.

They tied Germany 7-7 to send it to an extra end, but Andrea Schopp and the Germans used the hammer to score one in the eleventh end and beat the Jennifer Jones rink 8-7.

Canada now falls to 8-1, but despite the loss, they've been rolling at the Championships, going through the first four and a half days of competition undefeated.  However, Jones said after yesterday's win over the USA, they weren't really playing for perfection.  She says if they lose along the way, that's okay as long as they play well doing it.

Canada has two big games tomorrow.  They play Russia in the morning, and Scotland tomorrow night in a first-place showdown to finish round-robin play.

Other Draw 13 scores this afternoon had Scotland beating Switzerland 9-7, China edging Norway 8-7, and Sweden beating Denmark 10-9 in an extra end.

Draw 14 is tonight at 7:30pm from the Credit Union iplex.  Scotland takes on the USA, China faces Russia, Germany takes on Japan, and Denmark battles Latvia.
