The 2017 Canada Summer Games officially open today, and a nine-person Swift Current contingent will be competing as part of Team Sask.

The Games, which run July 28 - August 13 in Winnipeg, will have eight athletes and one coach from Swift Current represented across five sports:

  • Tobi Ojo, men's soccer (Jul 29 - Aug 12)
  • Logan Fritzke, men's baseball (Jul 29 - Aug 4)
  • Aleah Nickel, wrestling (Aug 9-11)
  • Austin Shopa, wrestling (Aug 9-11)
  • Braedon Friesen, U18 men's volleyball (Aug 7-12)
  • Henry Rempel, U18 men's volleyball (Aug 7-12)
  • Jenae Reutz, swimming (Aug 7-11)
  • Tyler Piercy-Servant, swimming (Aug 7-11)

Joining Reutz and Piercy-Servant on Team Sask's swimming squad is coach Jackie Powell, who currently serves as the Aquatics Coach and Program Coordinator with Special Olympics Swift Current.
