Fresh off of being named WMBL Coach of Year and leading the Swift Current Indians to the 2016 WMBL league title, Joe Carnahan has been awarded a three year extension.

This year marked the third Coach of the Year honour Carnahan has received, his previous two were in 2009 and 2010.

Carnahan has had plenty of success with the Indians over the years.

This season was his second time leading the Tribe to a WMBL title, he was also apart of four championships with Swift Current as a player.

Carnahan led the Swift Current Indians to a regular season 33-15 record in 2016, the most wins by any team in the WMBL.

The Tribe went 9-0 in the playoffs to win the 2016 league championship.
