Broncos Wheat Kings Cave

A banged-up Swift Current Broncos club visits the Eastern Conference-leading Brandon Wheat Kings tonight.

The Broncos have lost their last three games, and their three alternate captains with Coda Gordon, Carter Rigby and Dillon Heatheirngton all out injured. That means remaining leaders, like team captain Colby Cave, have more pressure on their shoulders.

"We have to lead by example, we've got to play the right way and can't make mistakes, and we're going to need some guys to step up," Cave said. "There's a lot of leadership on this team, and just because you're not wearing a letter, doesn't mean you're not a leader... We're going to miss those guys, but we've got to find a way to win."

The Broncos have won only once in six games with Brandon so far this season but played them well the last time the clubs faced off on January 17th, where the Wheat Kings won 5-3 at the Credit Union iplex.

Swift Current has a slim three-point lead over Moose Jaw for third place in the East Division with a game in hand, and are 10 points behind the second-place Regina Pats.

Tonight's game in Brandon will wrap up a quick three-game road swing before the Broncos return home Friday to host the Saskatoon Blades, who have won their last five games in a row and six of their last 10 games.

You can hear tonight's game on the Eagle 94.1 FM, starting with the pre-game show at 6:30pm, and the face-off from Westman Place at 7:00pm.
