With the students back at school, another sports year starts for Chinook School Division. Our fall sports line up includes volleyball, soccer, golf, football and cross country.

We have 4 football teams playing within Chinook:

In 6 man football, we have the
Gull Lake Lions. Gull Lake will be playing in a league with Loreburn/Kenaston, LCBI (Outlook), Elrose, Central Butte and Davidson. The Lions have an exhibition game set up on Friday, Sept. 9 when they travel to Elrose. Their first regular season game will be Friday, Sept. 16 when they travel to Loreburn/Kenaston.

In 9 man football, we have Maple Creek Redmen and Shaunavon Shadows. These two teams will play in a league along with Assiniboia, Indian Head, Fort Qu’Appelle and Lumsden. Shaunavon will host Assiniboia on Thursday, Sept. 1
st at 4:30 p.m. while Maple Creek will host Indian Head on Friday, Sept. 2 at 4:30 p.m.

In 12 man football, the Swift Current Colts will play in the Moose Jaw league. This includes Moose Jaw Peacock, Vanier and Central as well as a team from Estevan. The Colts have already played an exhibition game coming out as 42-6 victors over Martin Collegiate from Regina. The Colts will host Estevan in the first league game on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 4:00 p.m.

The Swift Current Ardens will be going out to defend their league title in the Moose Jaw Girls’ Soccer league. The girls will travel to Moose Jaw on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for exhibition games against Weyburn and Estevan.

Volleyball teams from all over the division will be playing in various tournaments. Once again we will be having a senior boys and girls league. Action for the girls will start on Tuesday, Sept. 13 while the boys will start Wednesday, Sept. 14.

There will be a volleyball officials clinic on Thursday, Sept. 8. This will be held at the Swift Current Comp seminar room beginning at 6:30 p.m. for “seasoned” officials. All other interested participants should come at 7:00 p.m. There is no cost to attend. Anyone interested in officiating volleyball is welcome to attend.


Our district golf championships are scheduled. Sand green golf is set for Hodgeville on Monday, Sept. 12 while the grass green is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Ponteix. There will be both individual and team championships awarded.
