We had some great golf results from our Chinook athletes who competed at the SHSAA provincial championships.

Golfers from Frontier captured three medals at the sand green championships held in Bengough on Sept. 23/24. Congratulations goes out to provincial gold medalist Cassidy Onerheim and silver medalist Hope Anderson! Cassidy had a 2 day total of 177 while Hope was at 180. The Frontier team – composed of Kadin Ham, Chris Broom, Adam Keith, Cassidy Onerheim, Hope Anderson, coach Gail Balfour - captured the bronze medal in the team competition. Individual male scores included:

At the grass green championships in Kenosee on Sept. 23/24, the Swift Current female golf team captured the silver medal. The team was composed of Ashley Sauder, Lacey Duncan, Rachel Cronan, Emily Bugera, coaches Russ Siemens, Carrie Chambers and Derek Mann. The girls initially led after day 1 with a total of 189. They scored 195 on day 2 for a total of 384. Coronach captured the gold.

In individual female results, we had two top 10 finishes with Alyssa Fournier of Ponteix placing 5
th (score of 180) and Rachel Cronan of Swift Current placing 9th (score of 197). Other female individual scores included:

The Swift Current Ardens soccer team continued their winning ways in the Moose Jaw league. On Sept. 20, the Ardens hosted Moose Jaw Central and beat them by an 11-0 score. The Ardens then travelled to Moose Jaw on Sept. 22 to take on Peacock. The girls boosted their undefeated league record to 5-0 by winning 10-3. The Ardens have 3 league games left before playoffs:

In 6 man football action, Gull Lake travelled to Outlook to take on LCBI.
After winning their season opener in a thriller against the Loreburn/Kenaston Aztecs, the Lions were unable to continue with their winning ways in Outlook on Sept. 23. The Lions offense, defense, and special teams all struggled against the high powered Bisons. At half time LCBI had built a 32-8 lead. Early in the second the Lions closed the gap to 32-14, but by the end of the quarter the Bisons led 45-14. The 4th saw both teams rotate in players. Final score: LCBI 53, Gull Lake 14.

In 9 man football, Shaunavon hosted Lumsden and lost 56-0. There was a mix up in the schedule between Maple Creek and Assiniboia. The game was re-scheduled for Monday, Sept. 26.

In 12 man football, the Colts were beaten by Vanier Vikings 79-21.

On Wednesday, October 5, Consul will play host to our District cross country championships. Runners from all over Chinook will gather to race at various distances. We have pee wee (grades 4,5, and 6) and bantam runners (grades 7,8) starting around 2:00 p.m. with a 2 km race. The high school runners (midget, juniors and seniors) will start at approximately 3:00 p.m. running anywhere from 3-6 km. High school runners will be looking to advance to the provincial cross country championship in Middle Lake on Oct. 15.

October 9-15 has been declared School Sports Week. Please check your local school for various events.
