Swift Current Ardens and Colts attended the 3A provincial soccer championships on Oct. 28/29. The Colts travelled to Saskatoon. In the first game, they played Saskatoon Holy Cross. The Colts lost 3-0 to the team that would later emerge as the gold medalists. Later in the day, the Colts played PA Carlton on the consolation side. The Colts lost a close contest by the score of 3-2. Scoring goals for the Colts were Levon Majeran-Findley and Dominic Vallee. Congrats to the Colts on a fine season.

The Ardens travelled to PA for provincials. In their first match, they won a high scoring affair 6-5 over Regina Riffel. Scoring for the Ardens were Cassidy Andres with 4 goals and 2 goals by Kaity Letwiniuk. This put the Ardens in the provincial semi final against Saskatoon St. Joseph’s. The Ardens lost 3-0 against the team that would eventually go on to win gold. The Ardens then played PA St. Mary’s in the bronze medal match.

Unfortunately, they lost 3-0 thus finishing 4
th overall in the province. Congratulations to the Ardens on a wonderful soccer season.

The first round of junior volleyball playoffs have finished. Thanks to all the host schools and commissioners for all their hard work. Six boys and six girls’ teams will now advance to our Chinook SD championships. The winners included:

By finishing first, Fox Valley earns the right to host our league championship. The top 4 teams will play off in Fox Valley on November 1. 1
st Fox Valley will play 4th place Herbert while 2nd place Frontier will play 3rd place Shaunavon. The two winners will advance to the final.

Vanguard will now host the league championship at Pambrun on Nov. 2. 1
st place Vanguard will play 4th place Frontier while 2nd/3rd Consul and Shaunavon will play off. The two winners will advance to the final.

Our senior girls teams will also be starting on the SHSAA provincial volleyball trail on Saturday, November 5. The playoffs start with conference tournaments then progress to regional tournaments and finish with the provincial championships. Our teams are all divided based on high school population with 1A being the smallest through to 5A which are the largest schools. Chinook SD hosts two conference tournaments on Nov. 5. Maple Creek girls will host 4A Conference 2 playoffs. Teams in attendance include the host Maple Creek as well as Shaunavon, Assiniboia, Caronport and Moose Jaw Cornerstone. The top 2 teams will go on to the regional championship.


We will also host 1A conference 2 playoffs in Hodgeville on Nov. 5. Vanguard and Hodgeville have a co-op team. Also in attendance will be Glentworth, Kincaid, Lafleche and Mankota. The top 2 teams will advance to regionals.

Our other Chinook SD teams will play as follows:

1A – Fox Valley, Consul and Eastend will all play in Eatonia.
2A – Frontier and Gull Lake will travel to Bengough; Cabri , Herbert and Leader will go to Elrose.
3A – Ponteix will travel to Langham

Due to the smaller number of teams, both the Swift Current Colts and Ardens will not play until Nov. 11/12 when they will travel to Regionals. The Colts will go to Yorkton while the Ardens will travel to Moose Jaw.

The senior boys SHSAA playoffs do not begin until Nov. 12. We will host 3 conference tournaments. In 1A boys, Fox Valley will host. Teams involved include Fox Valley, Consul, Frontier and Hazlet. In 2A, Herbert will host. Teams include Herbert, Ponteix, Cabri and Leader. In 4A – Shaunavon will host Assiniboia, Caronport, and Moose Jaw Cornerstone. Our other Chinook SD teams will play as follows:


1A – Hodgeville and Vanguard will travel to Kincaid.
4A – Shaunavon
