It was a busy weekend of golf as both the sand and grass green SHSAA provincial championships were held.  A big thank you to Frontier Golf club, commissioner Gail Balfour and the students and staff of Frontier School for hosting a successful sand green provincial championship!  Although a bit breezy at times, the weather cooperated very well for the end of September.  The course was in great shape with all the recent rains.  We had 32 boys and 12 girls competing from various schools around the province.  In the boys’ competition, the winner was Nik Person (Canwood) shooting a 36 hole total of 149.  Chinook results for the males were:

7th Taron Ham (Frontier) – 169
16th Adam Keith (Frontier) – 181
18th Ben Dumontel (Frontier) – 183.

On the girls’ side, the winner was Ashley Zacharias (Waldheim) who shot a 36 hole total of  196.  Barely missing out on a bronze medal by 1 shot was Sydney Onerheim of Frontier who was 4th shooting 214.  Other female finishers included:

6th Danica Casat (Frontier) – 231
9th Adrienne Keith (Frontier) – 245

Congratulations to the Frontier team!  They won the silver medal in the team title. The gold went to Strasbourg (674 total) while Frontier (722) beat out Dinsmore (724) for the silver.  The Frontier team consisted of Taron Ham, Adam Keith, Ben Dumontel, Syndey Onerheim, Danica Casat, Adrienne Keith and coach Gail Balfour.

The provincial grass green championships were held at Northern Meadows near Goodsoil.  67 males and 36 female golfers took part in both individual and team competitions.  Our southwest golfers had a good showing with 2 golfers in the top 15 on the male side.  Corey Bailey (Shaunavon) shot a 36 hole total of 154 to place 7th. Also finishing in the top 15 was Austin Paulhus (Swift Current Comp) who was 13th with a 162 total.  Other male competitors included:
