High school soccer season drew to a close on Oct. 25/26 with the SHSAA high school provincial championships. Chinook was represented by 3 teams – the Herbert Laurels, Swift Current Ardens and Colts. Congrats to the Herbert Laurels soccer team and their coaches Sebastian Prost and Ryan Gunstenson! Although this was their first year of fielding a team, the girls won the consolation final at 1A girls provincials at Lake Lenore. The Laurels started with a 5-0 loss to Osler on Friday morning but rebounded in the afternoon to defeat Outlook 3-1. The girls took a 2-0 lead in the first half and never looked back. The goal scorers were Rachel Selke, Katie Cannon and Miranda Redekop. This put the girls in the consolation final on Saturday where they battled back from a first half deficit of 3-1 to beat Delisle 5-4. Goal scorers were Miranda Redekop (3), Joni Martens and Rachel Selke.

The Swift Current Colts travelled to Saskatoon for 3A boys provincials. The Colts lost 5-0 in their first game to Saskatoon Holy Cross. They lost their second game 3-2 in a shoot out to Regina Campbell. Scoring the Colts’ goals were David and Sebastian Torres.
