It's official - Broncos' Head Coach and General Manager Dean Chynoweth is headed to the NHL.

At a news conference at the Credit Union iplex, Chynoweth says he is resigning effective July 1st, and is taking an Assistant Coach position with the New York Islanders.

Chynoweth had been Coach and GM of the Broncos for five years.  He says, looking back, the team has given him a chance to grow as a coach and manager, and to develop a program that he is extremely proud of.

Broncos' Board Chair Al Stewart says the changes have been dramatic in the five seasons that Chynoweth has been with the club.  He says Chynoweth leaves to his successor a strong and growing fan base, a deep and talented pool of young players, a newly-renovated arena, a winning hockey club, and a solid organization.

Chynoweth leaves the team after back-to-back 40-win seasons.

The serach for his replacement is now underway.
