The city of Swift Current will have the opportunity to witness CIS level soccer today.

Taking place at Riverside Field, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies will battle the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns in an exhibition match, as both teams prepare for their Canada West Universities Athletic Association seasons.

Coach of the Huskies Bryce Chapman, says he and Pronghorns coach Randy Bardock are looking forward to playing in Swift Current.

"I know Randy and myself are quite excited to bring CIS soccer to Swift Current. Obviously, both groups are still in training camp mode, but it will be a good start to the pre-season and it will be good to get a game under everyone's belt," he said.

Chapman also added he, along with Bardock are excited to showcase the quality of CIS soccer.

"If you look at Swift Current, and a lot of the traditional smaller centers in Saskatchewan, they see a lot of good hockey, WHL, Triple-A, etc. So the one thing that interested myself when Randy approached us is "how do we keep getting our brand out to the outline areas?" and we thought this would be a great way, and maybe a great tradition that we can start of coming out and showing what university soccer is," he added.

Before the game gets underway, a soccer clinic will be put on by the Pronghorn's players and coaches from 11am until 12:30pm.

The clinic is open to boys and girls ages who played in the U12-U18 age groups this past spring.

The game is scheduled to get underway at 5pm.

Both the clinic and exhibition match will be completely free of charge, but spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
