A tough loss at home last night under the lights for the Swift Current Comp Colts, as they now sit at 1-1 on the season.

Falling 34-14 to the visiting Moose Jaw Central Cyclones, the Colts were unable to match their production from their week one win against the Weyburn Eagles.

Head coach Derek Murdoch says a slow start for the Colts offense made for a tough hill to try and climb.

"The first half was tough - we had a hard time getting things going. I guess the difference for our team in the game was in the second half we were able to get our running game going," he said. "I mean you can't expect everything to go right all of the time - we definitely had a better second half, but tough to overcome with a tough start."

The Colts defense was on the field for a large chunk of the game, as a balanced Cyclones offense dominated in the air, as well as on the ground via quarterback Ethan Johnson, and running back Dawson Pearce.

Murdoch and the Colts have no choice but to clear the game from their minds, with a quick turnaround ahead of a week three match-up with powerhouse Moose Jaw Peacock.

"I'm confident that our guys are going to bounce back from this, but it's going to be a tough test - Peacock just beat these guys (32-13 in week one)," the head coach said. "We're going to have our work cut out for us on short rest, and a short time to prepare - we just kind of have to get rid of this game and get ready to go for next week."

The Colts and Peacock Collegiate face off this next Tuesday, while Central squares off with Weyburn.
