The Swift Current Comprehensive High School Colts football team will start the playoff push Saturday when they welcome Moose Jaw's Central Collegiate in the league quarter-final.

The Colts finished the regular season in third place with a 3-and-3 record, and lost their only game against Central on the road in week two.

"We set out to host a playoff game, that was one of our goals, and now we're talking about goals of giving us another week each Saturday," said Colts Coach Derek Murdoch.

This season has been a memorable one for the Colts, who have won two of their three home games, including a thrilling Thursday Night Lights victory over Vanier Collegiate in September. Murdoch adds there has been a very positive vibe surrounding the team both in the school and around the community.

"People seem to be really a lot more interested, and we noticed the support at the Thursday night game, and hopefully there's a lot of people here again to cheer us on," he said. "Obviously, the guys are really excited, and they've worked really hard to turn things around."

Saturday's kick-off is at 1:00pm from Colts Field.
