The Swift Current Comp Colts soccer team claimed top spot once again in the Moose Jaw High School Boys Soccer League Wednesday afternoon.

"It's unbelievable. This is my first year winning this - it's been a crazy experience," said Colts central midfielder Dilan Vargas. "We've got a very, very young team, so we got better as the season came along - it's been good."

Matched up in the final with the Moose Jaw Peacock Tornadoes, the Colts used goals from Central Midfielder Tony Roin and Kieran Gelowitz, a Left/Right Midfielder. to edge the Tornadoes 2-1.

Colts Centre-Back Nathan Chase says it was tough when the team surrendered Moose Jaw's lone goal, but the team handled it well.

"We play strong throughout the entire game - that goal was unfortunate, but we responded well and we came back," he said.

Head coach of the squad, Chris Garner, said the team has been nothing short of impressive after losing the majority of their starters from the previous season.

"We are excited to see where the team will be in the next couple of years after having gained some valuable experience this season."

Swift Current now gears up to host an SHSAA 3A Boys' Soccer Regional this weekend, with game one against Prince Albert St. Mary's Friday at 3:45 p.m. at Irwin North Field.

The Colts need a win to advance to Provincials, as well as the Regional final against Prince Albert Carlton Saturday afternoon.
