The Swift Current Comp Colts soccer team was up in North Battleford for tournament action over the weekend, earning wins in two of three contests.

The opener proved a grinding low-scoring affair against Warman. In a rematch of a meeting in SHSAA Provincials last season, Warman once again earned a 1-0 victory over the injury-ridden Colts.

With eight of 21 players out of the lineup this weekend, the Colts were able to rebound in convincing fashion over their final two matches.

They piled on in a 7-1 win over North Battleford's John Paul II Collegiate.

Dilan Vargas recorded a hat-trick, rookie Zach Kielo chipped in a pair, and both Jaedyn Carefoot and Matthew Epp earned singles. Jared Steinley turned aside all but one shot in goal in the win - the lone goal came uncontested on a penalty kick.

The Colts then shut out Humboldt 5-0.

Vargas added two more goals, with a pair also coming from Joel Reimer. Epp recorded the fifth goal, and keeper Ethan Arnold got the shutout.

The Colts (3-0) are back to league play on Tuesday when they host Moose Jaw Peacock at Irwin Field.

That game gets underway at 4:30 p.m.
