Two southwest boys soccer teams ran into stiff competition at their respective SHSAA Provincial Championships this past weekend.

The Swift Current Comp Colts were in Regina for 3A Boys' Provincials, and opened play Friday morning against the Yorkton Comp Raiders, but would end up on the losing end of a 10-0 contest.

Later in the day, the Colts needed a win against Regina's Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School to advance, but once again their offense was held in check in a 7-0 loss.

Meanwhile the Herbert School Laurels boys team was at 1A Boys' Provincials in Middle Lake.

A 9 a.m. contest against Rosthern Junior College saw a 3-1 loss, then facing an early elimination later that day, the Laurels dropped another one. They were tripled up 6-2 against North Battleford's Sakewew High School.

The Colts headed into the weekend as the second-seeded team out of their hosted Regional Championship, while the Laurels boys side claimed a Regional Championship in North Battleford the previous weekend.
