A huge weekend from Swift Current Broncos forward Jake DeBrusk earned him Denny's WHL Player of the Week honours.

DeBrusk scored four times and had four assists in three games last week as the Broncos completed their push to the playoffs.

His biggest performance came during Friday's 5-3 victory in Lethbridge when DeBrusk had a hat trick and added an assist.

The 18-year-old sophomore finished the regular season with 42 goals and 39 assists leading the Broncos in goals and points. He also finished sixth in the WHL in goal scoring.

DeBrusk is ranked by NHL Central Scouting and numerous other sources as a possible first round selection in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. He is the son of former NHLer Louie DeBrusk.

Swift Current Broncos won both the first and last regular season WHL Player of the Week Awards as Jay Merkley picked up the honour in week one.

The Broncos start their first round playoff series with the Pats on Friday and Saturday in Regina. You can see those games live by jumping on a fan bus being organized by the Broncos. Check out scbroncos.com for details.
